The Capacity to Mentalize in People Diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder – Journal of Advanced Generalist Social Work Practice
My previous psychotherapy experience includes working in community mental health settings and forensic settings with a wide range of diverse individuals from all walks of life.
I also have a dog with me in my office each day. Chewy is my 2 year old Havanese and is incredibly friendly, social, and loving. He is harmless, hypoallergenic, and doesn’t shed. Generally, he lays on the floor and sleeps although he is known to jump up on the couch and lay with patients. There is some good research that suggests that petting a dog lowers cortisol (stress hormone) levels in the blood.
